Since we seem to be broadening the idea of how we use this challenge. I decided I really needed to map out the setting for my comic.

Buranda, formerly known as British Equatorial Africa, is a tiny Commonwealth nation on western coast of the continent. It was a British colony until the 1950's since then it has been a largely stable and prosperous independent nation.

Geographically, the nation occupies a large triangular valley cut out of the surrounding mountain range by the Kogana river. A large percentage of the nation is taken up by jungle forest.

The British Empire set up a port at the mouth of the Kogana in 1839, naming it Port Victoria after the newly crowned Queen. With exports of rare woods and mining operations, it became a thriving port town bringing plenty of people to the region. Which caused a great deal with the native tribes, especially those that supported the fanatical mystics known as the Serpent Cult.

The 20th century brought unfortunate change to the region. During World War II Axis powers seized control of the country from embattled Britain, and exploited the region mercilessly. Nazis plundered the resources, and set up laboratories to engage in some of their more dangerous Thaumatology experiments.

I. Absolutely. LOVE. Maps!!
(As coincidentally, one can tell from my entry # 18.)

One question: Could the location of Buranda be pinpointed on a real world map, or is the coastline entirely made up??

I didn't place it any specific location. Other than being on the western coast of Africa.

For some reason the shape of this place reminds me of Namibia, which I seem to recall was a German colony that got taken by the Brits.

For a while, I had considered calling the country Nambia, since the name got popularized thanks to the fool in the Oval Office.
